Floor area in any room is important. Available space can dictate how comfortable a room can be. It can also limit options in decorating. From very large rooms to the smaller apartment-style singles, sliding closet doors are guaranteed space savers.
By definition, closets are small enclosed spaces used for general storage or hanging clothes. Noting the latter, closets are typically found within a dresser or in the room itself. Either way, closets with sliding doors save frontal space which is a big factor in how you space your furniture.
SLIDING CLOSET DOORS FOR BEDROOMS
Because of the way a sliding door operates, it eliminates the need for door-sway room. A typical swaying door opens inside or outside (depending on your vantage point), and you automatically need a minimum adjacent space same to that of the width of the door. If not, you end up rendering the door useless by not being able to fully-open it or you have a hard time accessing the insides.
Think of a closet situated beside a bed like in most rooms. If you do not have enough space between the bed and the door, you will bump the side of the bed every time you open the closet door. Think about how hard it is to get clothes like that. With the same space or less, you would have no problems with a sliding door.
A closet with a sliding door is not without any disadvantages. The main disadvantage associated with sliding doors is not being able to expose the whole closet. A sliding door can only expose a maximum of half the closet's opening. A sliding door would obviously need to go somewhere when slid; it also needs rails which are located on top and at the bottom-from where it closes to where opens.
The only way to fully-open a closet made in such a way is to make the doors "disappear" inside an adjacent wall. Although doable, this design is significantly more expensive and requires some custom building.
The disadvantage presented above can easily be overcome if you think space is more important than closet-opening. A half-open sliding-door closet is easier to access than a half-open hinged-door closet. Dressing up usually takes place in front on the closet which makes frontal room even more important. Besides, most items stored inside a closet are small items and do not need much space when taken out.
If you have a room setup that has limited space or if you have planned a layout where furniture spacing is important, a sliding closet door is your best choice.
Sliding Closet Doors Save Precious Space
As mentioned above, dressing up normally takes place in front of the closet. Be more efficient by using sliding mirrored closet doors. Visit our site for more details. http://slidingmirroredclosetdoors.info/.
