Required Materials

Closet Materials
1½-2 inch brad nails
1x4 boards
1¼ inch brad nails
Rod holders
Screws
Closet rod
Rod support brackets

Instructions

Firstly utilize the tape measure to see how much room you have for your closet. Conclude on how many shelves you will need, how much rods for clothes, how much door will be required, the swing of the door, and how much and what sort of material you will need to make the closet.

Use the chalk or pencil to sketch the outline of the closet on the wall where the closet will be so that you have a rough idea of how each piece will be placed and joint together. Use the stud finder to see where the studs are in the wall and mark them using the chalk so you can quickly find them later on.

Using the chop saw, incise your closet supplies to the required length and then proceed to plug in the compressor and nail gun. Load the nail gun with the brad nails and you are set to go. Begin by placing up the 1x4 boards and fastening them into the studs that were previously marked. Cut the shelving material you bought for the closet to suit the design you selected and use the 1¼ inch nails to affix them to the 1x4 stringers you attached to the walls.

Next utilize the drill to insert the rod holders into the 1x4 side stringers and then sever the closet rod if necessary to get it to fit and insert it into the rod holders. It will function as a support for your closet shelves and rods. Then use the drill and 1½ inch screws to put up the rod support brackets no more than 3 feet apart; all that is left now is to install the various shelves and your new closet is set for use.

As far as the door is concerned, utilize drywall to cover the area above where the door will be and then affix whichever door you prefer.

Tips

Sliding doors or outward swinging doors are recommended as swinging doors. Since it can be difficult to open when all the shelves and your garments are installed. Apply putty to fill out any uneven spots when you are finished.
